Volvox Labs

What we're looking for

As our Creative Tech intern, you are passionate about new media art, interactive technology, and experiential design. You will be a part of every step of our production process: prototyping, implementation, and installation. You will interact with our tech team and assist them in concepting and delivering one-of-a-kind virtual and physical experiences. Communication skills and willingness to learn are key; every project is different and requires a unique approach.

Flexibility and willingness to learn are the most important thing in this role. There will be a mix of hands on mentorship, but also quite a bit of self directed work where we will expect you to figure things out on your own. You will be expected to be able to pick up new technologies, and work your way through complex tasks independently. We are a team of people from various backgrounds so a degree is not a pre requisite. We are looking for people with a genuine interest in interactive technology and a track record of curiosity alongside technical execution.

The ideal candidate should have an interest in what it takes to build a robust back end that can support interactive installations. Volvox is a team of cross disciplinary artists, fabricators, and technologists, which means your role is building the software glue which ties all of our teams together. If your background is in visuals or fine art we encourage you to apply to our 3D Artist Roles.

This role will begin in late May / early June 2025. Please note that due to the nature of our work style and collaboration this is an in person role and you must work out of our studio space in Greenpoint Brooklyn. Volvox welcomes out of state applicants but does not provide a housing stipend or logistics support in relocating. Our hours are 10am-6pm and we expect interns to work at least 4 days a week.
